"It’s hard not to picture The Grateful Dead as the graven image of the J Burn experience—Burnt Blue was recorded at Bob Weir’s storied TRI Studios, after all—but it may be more accurate to describe J Burn as a folksy, San Francisco version of Lynyrd Skynyrd. In Burnt Blue, Burn has shed the psychedelic tones and instead focused his lyrics on bucolic imagery and earthly imaginings of the quotidian. He sings of trains, yesterdays and dusty trails in what could be construed as a hippie riff on the Southern experience." -MacEagon Voyce - AXS Contributor - Sep 24, 2015

lyrics

(First Verse)
Freight Train, oh freight train, rolling down the tracks
Don’t know where you’re going or when you’re coming back
None of that concerns me, I just need to go
Gather my belongings and head on down that road

(Chorus)
You know the futures wide open and its time I move along
Cause things ain’t a working and a broken heart is hard
Oh freight train, oh freight train, may your course be true
You know I don’t care where you’re going, I’m gonna leave it up to you

(Second Verse)
Pretty Penny was the girl who will always own my heart
She left me at the altar, dressed to play the part
I don’t know where she’s gotten to but I know she’s runnin’ free
Me I’m broken hearted, for all our friends to see

(Chorus)
You know the futures wide open and its time I move along
Cause things ain’t a working here and a broken heart is hard
Oh freight train, oh freight train, roll on down the line
And free me from these memories, will leave my past behind

(Out)
With two bits in my pocket and a satchel that holds my world
A lunch, I got from a mission, the open roads my home
Oh freight train, oh freight train, my your course be true
I don’t care where you’re going, I’m gonna leave it all to you
You know I don’t care where you’re going, gonna leave it up to you
