"It’s hard not to picture The Grateful Dead as the graven image of the J Burn experience—Burnt Blue was recorded at Bob Weir’s storied TRI Studios, after all—but it may be more accurate to describe J Burn as a folksy, San Francisco version of Lynyrd Skynyrd. In Burnt Blue, Burn has shed the psychedelic tones and instead focused his lyrics on bucolic imagery and earthly imaginings of the quotidian. He sings of trains, yesterdays and dusty trails in what could be construed as a hippie riff on the Southern experience." -MacEagon Voyce - AXS Contributor - Sep 24, 2015

lyrics

(First Verse)
Hey Mr. can you play me a melody
Of some sweet forgotten tune
That reminds me, of a time, much simpler
When the band, always carried, perfect tune

(Chorus)
Days of heart broken hero’s
Who always saw the story end up fine
When I was still with you darling
Girl you’ve never escaped my heart or mind

(Second Verse)
So Mr. walk me through a memory
With that sweet, sweet tune
Doesn’t matter if your old voice is raspy
Cause the song always brings me to my youth

(Chorus)
Let’s raise a glass for forgotten hero’s
Who always stood for just and noble cause
Back in the day, when I was with my darling
Never forgot you, as days move on

(Third Verse)
So tune up that old guitar
An if that piano still plays on key
Keep the drum beat so steady
I’d sure appreciate you playin, that song for me

(Chorus)
When a war torn hero could raise his head up high
An praise and thanks always welcomed him home
When a man was judged by the seeds he had sown
That’s the place, that song plays now take me home

(Out)
That’s the place, that sweet song plays now, take me home
